Stories submissions accepted from October 3, 2011 through October 21, 2011.

Two age categories:  1) 8 years to 12 years        2) 13 years to 18 years

First Place
- Publication of Winning Story in the Walpole Times, Norwood Bulletin, Sharon Advocate, & the Westwood Press.
- $50 Barnes and Noble gift card
- Certificate of Achievement and first place ribbon

Second Place                            
- $25 Barnes and Noble gift card
- Certificate of Achievement and second place ribbon        

Third Place
- $15 Barnes and Noble gift card
- Certificate of Achievement and third place ribbon

A panel of writers, editors, and educators will judge the entries.
The judges will look for originality, story structure, and grammar.

The top three entrants in each age category will be notified by Tuesday November 8th, and be asked to participate in the awards ceremony on Tuesday November 15th. This event will be hosted at the Walpole Barnes and Noble Café, 90 Providence Highway Walpole from 7:00pm-8:30pm.

Writing Prompt:                                       

Age 8-12: Write an original short story, no more than 750 words, typed, double- spaced, 12pt font, on one side of each piece of paper. No illustrations please.

Age 13-18: Write an original short story, no more than 1250 words, typed, double- spaced, 12pt font, on one side of each piece of paper. No illustrations please.

Write a story about a character who discovers he/she/it has a super power. Your character can view the super power as a curse or blessing. Will your character use it for good or for evil? It’s your choice since it’s your story.

Do not write your name on your submitted story. Fill in the entry form, attach it to your story with a paperclip and send your writing and the completed entry form. One submission per person, please. Stories must be postmarked no later than October 21, 2011.
